Background information
More than 80 businesses, with around 2,500 employees, have moved in the last four years to the Vantage Point Business Village to join existing tenants such as Xerox, Exploration Logistics and Cooper Security. These new businesses, large and small, extend from bespoke furniture making to industrial tool making and nationwide logistics and automotive electronics. The latest large business to move to Mitcheldean is London General Insurance who announced plans to bring 250 jobs to Mitcheldean in October 2007.
The Business Village has been a Forest of Dean success story since Brian Bennett’s company, BMJ international, bought the 67-acre site from Xerox. The first big move to the site was by the Royal Forest of Dean College, which brought its practical skills training services to Vantage Point. Since then there has been a steady flow of new ventures as Vantage Point has steadily upgraded the business accommodation at a cost of more than £2 million. Other new tenants followed, including Forest of Dean Housing, CDS Superstores, and many other businesses in IT, advanced manufacturing, financial and manufacturing services.
Over 250,000 sq. ft. of high quality business space at Vantage Point is currently being built and commissioned. It is being progressively released for occupation as Vantage Point continues with the refurbishment and enhancement of the substantially-constructed buildings at Mitcheldean, formerly owned by Xerox, which total more than 1.4 million sq. ft. of high quality business workspace.
The site now includes comprehensive IT and practical skill training services, and world standard IT, high-speed Internet connections and telecommunications. Restaurants, medical services, mailing services, and a choice of catering services are also available on site.
