Arrow Medical Ltd Background Information
Length: 250 words
Arrow Medical was founded in 1989 by a group of medical device entrepreneurs who recognised the growing need for the outsourcing of manufacturing of medical devices, especially clean room assembly.
The first project was a high volume garment used for prophylaxis treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This required specialist cutting and sewing operations that are now well established, and are highly productive parts of Arrow’s medical capability.
As a subcontractor manufacturer to the medical industry, Arrow Medical currently makes a laryngeal mask, for anaesthesia, and the Impad, part of the A-V Impulse System that has been developed to provide impulse compression to the hand and foot, activating venous systems and returning blood to the heart.
Arrow Medical has made a significant investment in radio frequency (RF) welding, which is used to make components for pressure relieving mattresses that help prevent pressure ulcers (bed sores).
Arrow also uses injection and compression moulding for silicone and organic elastomers. This is supported by various 20-ton and 40-ton presses, automatic gluing, heat welding, and sophisticated inspection equipment.
Arrow Medical’s facilities also include 2500 sq ft of Class 10,000 ‘J’ clean rooms, product engineering support, packaging, warehousing, stock control, logistics, and design facilities. The recent clean room 1,500 sq. ft. extension increases capacity for assembly and packing direct to the sterile supply chain.
Arrow Medical’s capabilities include a full turnkey, end-to-end service for customers, the hands-on involvement of a strong management team with substantial experience in the medical sector, and a commitment to customer service.
