RFDC course helps LGI enhance automotive customer support services
A unique six-month vehicle engineering awareness course developed by the Royal Forest of Dean College (RFDC) and London General Insurance Company Ltd (LGI) has enhanced response to motorists' claims calls.
"LGI at Mitcheldean, as part of TWG Services, provides customer service support for both new and used vehicles for many automotive businesses, including major dealers and manufacturers such as Honda," said Mike Nash, Motor Claims Section Manager at LGI, "and we designed the course with Lisa Taylor at the RFDC Business Training Centre to help our staff quickly identify basic issues, so that they can ensure our clients' customers receive a responsive and efficient service."
The course, developed by Mick Scriven and Ceri Jones at the Business Training Centre, enabled LGI staff to receive training between 8.00 and 10.00 am two days per week to suit work patterns. "It was a three-way partnership," emphasised Mike Nash, "with people from Motor Claims contributing two hours per week of their own time, LGI providing two hours from the business per week, and RFDC providing the training." RFDC Principal, Janak Patel, presented course members with their certificates in April and commented, "This new course was custom designed by the college to address specific requirements identified by LGI. I was very pleased to see that it not only met the technical requirements but also the team aspirations to improve customer service".
"It was a very detailed course," continued Mike, "covering everything from exhausts and suspensions to fuel injection systems and engine management electronics. The five people who successfully completed the first course, Emma Grindle, Gemma White, Gurkamall Gill, Matt Jones, and Steve Winn, all deserve our congratulations for completing a tough, fact-filled course. There's no doubt that the team response to urgent automotive claims calls has been enhanced, and the increased technical knowledge will certainly benefit each person's career prospects."
